Serotyping of Legionella Bacteria Isolated from Various Water Systems in the Central Anatolia Region

Objective: Legionella bacteria are waterborne environmental pathogens that considered a public health problem because they cause Legionnaires' disease, which is nationally notifiable disease. Materials and Methods: analysis was performed in total of 651 water samples collected during the years 2015 (450) – 2016 (201). Water were from hospitals (64.66%), hotels (15.05%), automotive industry (14.43%) buildings (5.83%) Central Anatolia Region. After isolation by filtration culturing method, serogroup subtypes determined via latex agglutination tests direct fluorescent antibody method. Results: In 2015, positivity rate 8.6%, where 28.2% detections L. pneumophila serogroup-1. Six isolates found to be Philadelphia, four Olda, one Bellingham subgroup. Overall, 64.1% 2-14. Moreover, 14 SG-5, 10 SG-6, SG-10. 7.7% unidentified species. The species identified micdadei longbeachae. 2016, 10.4%, with 28.6% them being Four Olda two Philadelphia subgroups. 66.6% six SG-2. 4.7% There only detected as micdadei.
